Visit to the Battleship in New Jersey

Visit to the Battleship at New Jersey

It was in June 11 2008 at 1.30 pm I visited the Battleship in New Jersey with a religious friar who I met in Washington DC during my round the world trip. It was a 13 dollar entry ticket.  I had an audio set which explained all about the ship’s interior and equipment.  Too excited to be in such a gigantic historical vessel made me even just forget all what I saw in the ship that moment. But when I look back to all the photos, all the memory comes back.

This battle ship is capable of firing a 2,700-pound projectile as far as 24 miles. The New Jersey is the longest, fastest, most decorated battleship in U.S. history. She is the only ship to have served in World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Persian Gulf War

USS New Jersey (BB-62) is an Iowa-class battleship, and was the second ship of the United States Navy to be named after the US state of New Jersey. She was often referred to fondly as "Big J".

USS New Jersey was the only battleship recalled to duty during the Vietnam War. She recommissioned in April 1968 and arrived off Southeast Asia in September. From then until April 1969, she conducted frequent bombardments along the South Vietnamese coast.

USS New Jersey has an overall length of 887 feet, 7 inches, with a waterline length of 860 feet. She has a mean draught of 28 feet, 11 inches at a hull load of 45,000 tons, and a full load draught of 37 feet, 9 inches when at a full displacement of 57,540 tons.

It was just an amazement of  listening to the history and experiencing the power of such gigantic machines made to conquer the world!
